"The International Center is not just there for legal advice or questions about your status; they鈥檙e also a big support system for those who are willing to take advantage of it. Go to their events, go to the Annex and be willing to let people support you."

91猫先生 Experience
I was involved in many things during my time at 91猫先生, some of those being Lancer Media Group, the Public Relation Student Society of America (PRSSA), along with the International Center and the speech and debate team. I received a scholarship from the speech and debate team prior to starting college.
I held office positions in both Lancer Media Group and PRSSA. I was with Lancer Media Group all four years of college, starting as a marketing assistant, then website manager, yearbook writer, social media coordinator and finally, editor-in-chief. I was also asked to be president of PRSSA my sophomore year, becoming one of the youngest presidents the 91猫先生 chapter had. These opportunities strengthened my confidence and gave me a voice. You can doubt yourself sometimes when you鈥檙e not a native speaker. Placing fourth in the nation in speech and debate my freshman year was the first step in proving to myself that I had what it took to be part of the conversation.
Lessons Learned
I owe much of my growth to the International Center for teaching me that adaptability and being surrounded by people different than you is a valuable lesson. While interning for the center, I helped organize events such as Lunar New Year, Festival of Color and Taste the Nations. I found my closest friends through the international student orientation my first week at 91猫先生. I鈥檓 even going to be maid of honor in one of their weddings this year!
The memories I made in the Annex, a space in the International Center for students to enjoy, are some of my most cherished.
The International Center is not just there for legal advice or questions about your status; they鈥檙e also a big support system for those who are willing to take advantage of it. Go to their events, go to the Annex and be willing to let people support you.
Advice to Prospective Students
Non-international students should also visit the Annex and befriend international students. This reflects 91猫先生鈥檚 core value of being globally minded. The nations are out there, yes, but they are also here on campus. You get to have the global experience without even leaving. Through being involved on campus, I鈥檝e learned that community can impact who you become. Be willing to let people do life with you.
Career Plans
After graduation, I look forward to a job with IntelliEvent, an event rental business management software company, who I interned for last summer. I鈥檒l be working as a marketing coordinator, continuing what I did in my internship on a larger scale.
