Dr. Caleb Kim is a Professor and Director of Doctor of Social Work Program at the College of Behaviroral and Social Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice (Formerly known as the School of Social Service Administration), his MSW from Norfolk State University, and his MDiv. from Loyola University Chicago. Prior to joining the Califorina Baptist University, he served as an MSW director at the School of Social Work in the Loyola University Chicago, as a chair of the Social Work Department at the University of St. Francis, visiting associate professor at the University of Chicago, and an associate professor and associate dean at the Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.

Dr. Kim brings over thirty years of practice and research experience focused on vulnerable minority youth, refugees, and immigrant families. His work centers on developing community-based violence prevention programs, culturally competent social work practice, and international/global social work education. As a principal investigator of diverse research projects, he has secured over $6 million in federal and state grant funding, including SAMHSA’s GLS Campus Suicide Prevention, DHHS’s Minority Youth Violence Prevention, HRSA’s Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students, and DOJ’s STOP School Violence grants.

As a dedicated leader in the social work field, Dr. Kim has served on the CSWE Commission on Global Social Work Education, Council on Global Social Issues, Council on Global Learning and Practice as well as Accreditation Site Visitor. He is also an inductee of the Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work.
