November 2024
Mike Procter, 鈥74, and his wife Rebecca began serving as the transitional pastoral couple at the First
Baptist Church in Haleiwa, Hawaii on November 1, after completing a six-month transitional
pastorate at the First Baptist Church in Soldotna, Alaska.
Grace Smart-Margain, 鈥00, was recently offered a new job in the Moreno Valley Unified School District as an
RSP Teacher in the Special Education Department. They have since asked her to take
on additional leadership roles as the AVID Coordinator and AAPAC (African American
Parent Advisory Committee) Coordinator. She says, 鈥淚'm loving my new job!鈥
Vanessa Caigoy, 鈥08, was elected as a Trustee for the Sacramento County Board of Education, Area 4, in
the March Primary Election. She was sworn in July 2024.
Rick Aragon, 鈥09, was just hired as the Assistant General Manager/Chief Financial Officer for the Western
Municipal Water District in Riverside, CA. For over 10 years, Rick hoped for this
opportunity, and was selected after an extremely competitive nationwide search. 鈥淚
am grateful and blessed,鈥 he says, 鈥渢o be able to serve the Riverside area again and
the whole western half of Riverside County where I have called many communities my
home over the years.鈥
Mical (Bell) Andrews, 鈥10, and her family are moving overseas. She says they are 鈥渆xcited for the calling God
has placed on our lives.鈥
Julio Solano, 鈥14, and Sarah (Murguia) Solano, 鈥17, welcomed their second child, Isaiah Solano, on Friday, October 18.
Jason Garcia, 鈥15, is an Adapted Physical Education teacher at a non-public school. 鈥淚鈥檓 loving every
minute of it!鈥 He says, 鈥淓arning my Kinesiology degree from 91猫先生 was the start of my
journey.鈥
Kaitlyn (Lamb) Wu, 鈥16, and her husband Steven, 鈥15, welcomed their first child, Declan Christopher Wu, on October 17. They say, 鈥淲e have
already seen God's faithfulness so clearly in this journey as new parents!鈥
Kimberly (Allison) Chan, 鈥17, and her husband, Christopher 鈥17, recently welcomed a baby girl in September. They say, 鈥渟he is the sweetest little
girl.鈥
Anthony Navarro鈥檚, 鈥18, daughter, Emilia Navarro, was born with a rare genetic disorder called SynGAP1. The
Navarros have become passionate advocates for SYNGAP1 research and awareness. They
are actively supporting the efforts of the SynGAP Research Fund (SRF), a non-profit
organization. "We're determined to find better therapies for Emmy and others with
SYNGAP1," says Anthony. "Every day without effective treatments means more developmental
challenges for these children."
Chris Cochran, 鈥19, says his literary journey has culminated in the publication of 鈥淚ngenious In Jesus,鈥
a diverse anthology now available on Amazon. He is also on the verge of completing
his master鈥檚 degree and teaching certification from Grand Canyon University. 鈥淚 attribute
my creative inspiration and academic success to the guidance and blessings of Jesus
Christ.鈥 He says, 鈥淗is influence has imbued my words with power, engagement, and the
ability to entertain, shaping me into the writer and soon-to-be educator I am today.鈥
Jean de Dieu Athanga, 鈥20, met the President of 91猫先生, Dr. Ronald Ellis in September 2024. 鈥淚 had some catch-up
with him on the sidelines of the Fourth Lausanne Congress in Incheon /South Korea.鈥
He says, 鈥渨hat a privilege it was!鈥
Amber Estrada, 鈥21, passed the licensing exam for marriage and family therapy in March 2024. She has
advanced in her workplace and though she still sees clients, which is her passion,
she now has the opportunity to mentor the new master level interns.
Jenna Grace Van Mourik鈥檚, 鈥21, third book was published in November 2024. It鈥檚 called 鈥淒aughter of the Most High,鈥
book three in the Generations of Faith series, which are ancient historical Christian
fiction novels set during the time of the early church. She was able to do an in-person
book signing on November 9, 2024, in celebration of the novel's release. Ten percent
of the proceeds were donated to a local prison ministry.
Stephanie (Rodriguez) Alvarez, 鈥23, graduated 91猫先生 and just a few days later married her wonderful husband on August 19,
2023. They have since celebrated their first wedding anniversary and welcomed their
first son, Javier IV, born in May 2024.
After graduating, Zari Gabrielle Johnson, 鈥23, worked for six months in a position that was not what she expected. She felt unfulfilled,
directionless, and unfocused. She decided to leave that position and apply to serve
in the Public Health AmeriCorps program. She was accepted and started her service
year in June 2024. 鈥淚 can honestly say this has become one of the most meaningful
and beneficial experiences.鈥 She says, 鈥淭here is a true connection with the work I
am doing.鈥 After her service year is complete, she hopes to continue to live out her
purpose in a meaningful way.
Andrea Verrette, 鈥23, just published her very first book titled, 鈥淐hosen Never Forsaken.鈥
Andrew Aucoin, 鈥24, landed a full-time job in Washington DC as a Digital Production Specialist with The
Heritage Foundation.
Madison (McClure) Carrington, 鈥24, and her husband, Christopher, were married on November 2.
Amanda Esmus, 鈥24, and her husband, Arturo, were married in August 2024. The couple was joined by their
dog Ruxin.
October 2024
Ted Campbell, 鈥62, was called home to the Lord on August 14, 2024. Ted attended California Baptist College
and majored in history. He served as the student body vice president, was a member
of the cross-country team and met his beloved wife Betty, 鈥63. Ted worked as a sixth-grade teacher in Longview, WA where he also started a Christian
traveling singing group, The Lower Columbia Singers. Ted and this group of teenagers
traveled the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada singing and spreading the
gospel. They were even present to perform for President Carter鈥檚 Friendship Force
in South Korea. In the early 1980s, Ted was called to be the youth pastor at Magnolia
Avenue Baptist Church in Riverside, and it was there that he started the New America
Singers, another youth singing group that traveled the world performing and sharing
the Gospel. He also worked with the Riverside Unified School District on their GATE
program for fifth and sixth grades. Mr. 鈥淐鈥 as he was called, was never an inside
the box thinker or teacher and was an inspiration for all who had the fortune of learning
from him. Ted was also an author, with five books available on Amazon, all revolving
around youth and missions.
Ted is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty, his children Shari Campbell of Rancho Palos Verdes, Ted Campbell, Jr. of Phoenix, Julie Reid of Carson City, NV, Chris Campbell of Easton, CA, their spouses and his grandchildren.
Sarah (Sonke) Cooley, 鈥12, and her husband, Eric, are celebrating 10 years of marriage this year!
Mirna (William) Atta, 鈥22, and her husband, Abanoub, are celebrating their first baby girl who is now turned
one. 鈥淲e鈥檙e so lucky to have her,鈥 she says, 鈥淗ope to send her at 91猫先生 soon, like her
mama!鈥
Natasha (Wright) Veale, 鈥23, wrote a book titled "How to Retain Special Education Teachers: A Transformational
Leadership Guide for School Administrators." She wrote it in response to her dissertation
completed last year in the Organizational Change and Administration Ed.D. program.
The book offers practical strategies for leading and retaining special education teachers.
It will be published by March 1, 2025 and is available for pre-order on the Myers
Education Press website.
Jessica Poche, 鈥23, moved to Texas in July 2023 and married her husband in February 2024. They are launching
a faith-based production business called B4C Productions. They just did their first
stage play in August and are auditioning for their next one set to premiere in March
2025. She just finished her second book called, 鈥淧raying for my Husband Head to Heels.鈥
This book as well as her first book, 鈥1 1/2 Years,鈥 are available on Kindle.
Candice Torres, 鈥24, graduated in April with her masters in higher education leadership and student development. She started her first job in higher education at Mt. San Jacinto College as a student services support specialist in Financial Aid. 鈥淚 am very excited to live out my purpose. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, my professors, mentors, classmates, and my family. Your endless motivation and support fueled me to strive for more!鈥
September 2024
Reva Strickland Reece, 鈥62, has gone home to be with the Lord. She passed away on August 15, 2024, in Oceanside, where she lived with her daughter.
Robyn (Glessner) Luna, 鈥05, and her husband, Michael, just welcomed their first baby on July 5, 2024, at Kaiser
Hospital in Riverside. Their baby boy's name is Luke.
Christal (Walker) Harkleroad, 鈥07, after her time at 91猫先生, she continued her education in Theology and World Missions
at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She graduated from there, got married, and
had three beautiful children and 14 years of ministry at the local church. Now, she鈥檚
excited to step into a new role as a state side missionary helping with global humanitarian
aid as a platform for the gospel to unreached people groups. 鈥淚 am so thankful to
the staff, leaders and attendees at 91猫先生 for the biblical teaching and leadership they
provided me.鈥 She says, 鈥淭his new phase of ministry is one that I have had a fire
for since I was very young. I covet your prayers and can't wait to share more about
this global work!鈥
Juan Romero, 鈥11, reflects on his time at 91猫先生: 鈥淩unning cross-country for the university became more
than just a sport; it was a source of hope and inspiration. The university provided
me with the tools and support I needed to continue growing and improving.鈥 He completed
his master's degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. It was there that he met
his wife, Megan, and together they celebrated the birth of their beautiful child (Emiliano
Floyd Romero) this past April. He says, 鈥淔rom the bustling streets of Morelos, Mexico
to the serene shores of Hawaii, my journey has been a testament to the American dream.
In loving memory of Coach Wendy, whose guidance and support will forever be cherished.鈥
Kyle Georgian, 鈥13, says, 鈥淭he education and experience at 91猫先生 was monumental in shaping me into who I
am and who I am becoming. I wouldn't change a thing about my major and experience
at 91猫先生.鈥 One month after graduation, he went into business with his brother, starting
an artificial grass business. The business now operates in CA, NV, UT, ID, and TX
(where he and his family now live). He and his wife, Telena, have a daughter, a son,
and a small dog. 鈥淭hank you to all the professors and peers that poured into me in
the early years along this journey!鈥 He says, 鈥淚'm a better man and leader as a result
of the strong foundation that was built at 91猫先生.鈥
Micah Palmquist, 鈥13, and Christina (Stack) Palmquist, 鈥16, recently welcomed their fourth child鈥擜doniram James鈥攖o their family on September
4, 2024! He joins Abigail (9), Hudson (6), and Hannah (3).
Cierra (Smith) Sao, 鈥16, and her husband, Brandon, are celebrating their new baby, Zoe Kalea Sao born July
14, 2024.
Monique Garcia, 鈥19, was selected by NASA for a second Human Spaceflight Analog Mission to support future
Artemis missions for lunar surface operations! She is extremely grateful for NASA
having called her back to screen for another analog mission. 鈥淚 have completed research
familiarization and mission training to start this mission,鈥 she says, 鈥済o Artemis
Generation!鈥
Heather Hersh, 鈥22, is celebrating a wonderful milestone after achieving her master鈥檚 degree in athletic training at 91猫先生: she recently built and purchased her first home with her longtime boyfriend, CJ, and moved to Homeland, California. She works as the lead athletic trainer at Liberty High School under Clover Enterprises Incorporation. She is also an instructor of sports medicine at the same school through the Riverside County Office of Education. They are blessed to be living their dream and even more happy to be reunited with their dog, Boomer, now that they finally have a place to call their own.
Justine Bentley, 鈥23, was just hired at River Springs Charter School for her second year of teaching. One
of her professors at 91猫先生 told her about the school and had the superintendent come
and speak to during class. 鈥淣ow, I get to work for them, and I am loving it there.鈥
She says. She is also clearing her credential after this school year is over.
Liliana Jimenez, 鈥24, and her partner, Charles, welcomed their firstborn child on July 20, 2024: baby
Evan Montgomery.
Nayeli (Torres) Martin, 鈥24, and Sean Martin, 鈥24, started their freshman year at 91猫先生 in the middle of the COVID 19 Pandemic. They
met in one of their engineering classes, where they had an assigned group to meet
once a week over zoom to discuss their weekly goals. These weekly meetings were meant
to take 10 minutes, but Nayeli and Sean would talk for hours. When they both saw each
other for the first time in person, it was love at first sight and the rest was history.
They dated all throughout college and were engaged on September 1, 2023. The two engineering
majors graduated together this past spring 2024. Nayeli is blessed to have a job with
Michael Baker International, in civil engineering design. Sean is working for NAVSEA.
They were married on August 17, 2024!
Andrew Nelson, 鈥24, and his fianc茅 have finally found a place they can call home once they are married in November. 鈥淚t took a long time, a lot of tears and frustrations but we finally got somewhere.鈥 He says, 鈥淕od has blessed us tremendously and we are more than grateful.鈥
July/August 2024
Walt and Marilyn Crabtree, 鈥62, celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on June 10, 2024. They are enjoying retirement
and their time in Escondido, near their daughter and her family. They have three children,
ten grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. They enjoy going to 91猫先生 for various
events and are season ticket holders for the Men's Basketball games.
Robert Young, 鈥65, and his wife, Dorothy, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is currently substitute teaching and is active in Hope International Church in Portland, Oregon. 鈥淚 attended the alumni day last year (as a 49-year alumni). I was amazed and impressed with the growth of the college.鈥
On May 30, 2024, Linda Renee (Foster) Hagen, 鈥80, retired after 44 years of teaching.
Lourdes (Padilla) Hatten, 鈥92, has twin boys that have both been signed to the NFL. One is with Seattle and the
other is with the Detroit Lions.
Lesleigh Joan Tolin, 鈥93, began her graduate studies in her early 40's and her mantra then and now is that it is never too late to fulfill one's lifetime mission! Her mission today: empowering adults to live a life they can love again after loss. She teaches a 7-week action and evidence-based program which allows adults to move from grieving to thriving in their lives. She also teaches classes in residential addiction treatment. She says, 鈥淚 love giving back to my local community in the San Fernando Valley area in this healing way!鈥
Maribeth (Pofahl) Myers, 鈥94, and her husband, Byron, just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in June.
Major Andrew C. Dirkes, 鈥97, USMC Retired, was promoted to Head Football Coach at Trinity Christian High School
in Monterey, CA. He is married to Jane (Yarbrough) Dirkes, 鈥97.
Stacey (Grindheim) Connolly, 鈥99, has been named Teacher of the Year in the Tustin Unified School District! This is
her 25th year as a health and physical fitness teacher at Pioneer Middle School.
Suzanne Diaz, 鈥04, lived in Atlanta, Georgia from 2017 until 2021 and is now back in California. Some things she learned at 91猫先生 that she carries with her are, 鈥渨hat would Jesus do?鈥 and 鈥渁bove all nations is humanity.鈥 She says, 鈥淢ay God Bless 91猫先生 and everyone there working, studying, and teaching!鈥
Katrina (Lopez) Hernandez, 鈥05, runs a children鈥檚 soccer program, HappyFeet SoCal, which was nominated for the Readers鈥
Choice Award for The Best Soccer Program in Orange County. HappyFeet SoCal won and
now holds the title of The Best Soccer Program in OC, 2024.
Kimberly (Weisenthal) Imai, 鈥06, shares, 鈥淭o celebrate turning 40, our group of friends from Cal Baptist gathered
for dinner in June of 2024.鈥 They all met during their freshman year at 91猫先生 in 2002
when they were roommates, hall mates, and friends. They reflected on their paths,
their families (7 of them married men they met at 91猫先生), and how much they have all
grown and learned since graduation. They vowed not to let another 18 years pass before
getting together again.

In April 2024, Heidi (Ravenhorst) Fischer, 鈥09, published her book titled, "The Trail that Leads to You: A Journey toward Self-Love,
Transformation, and Inner Peace" found on Amazon. The book details her journey to
fulfilling her purpose and how God ultimately has us in his care. In May 2009, she
gave the 91猫先生 commencement speech about "Living your Purpose" where she talked about
going out into the world and using what they learned. She worked in public accounting
for 4 years and had always felt that writing a book was part of her purpose. 鈥淲e will
ultimately fulfill His purpose for us,鈥 she says, 鈥渁nd live our journey exactly how
He intends us to.鈥
Reyna (Fujii) Kam, 鈥10, and her husband, Alvin, just welcomed their second child on February 15th, baby
girl Avery.
Micah Palmquist, 鈥13, and his wife, Christy (Stack) Palmquist, 鈥15, are celebrating their 10th anniversary and expecting their fourth child (a boy)
in late August. He will join their three children, Abigail (9), Hudson (6), and Hannah
(3).
Marie (King) Spezzaferri, 鈥14, and her husband, Mitchell Spezzaferri, 鈥14, welcomed a baby girl last fall! 鈥淗er name is Zoe,鈥 she says, 鈥渁nd she is an absolute
treasure!鈥
Ryan Matthew Anderson, 鈥15, started his career in risk management and finance, but soon discovered a natural
talent for connecting people and bridging gaps within the entertainment industry.
He earned an MBA in Entertainment Management from Pepperdine University, and now effectively
guides artists and musicians towards financial success while nurturing their creative
growth. He is also spearheading various TV shows with renowned producer and partner
Bill Pruit (known for Celebrity Apprentice and Amazing Race).
Michael Jewell, 鈥16, graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with his PhD in organizational leadership
in April 2024. His dissertation was titled 鈥淭he relationship between servant leadership
and employee engagement at nonprofit Christian camps.鈥
Allison (Molander) Russell, 鈥16, and her husband, Daniel Russell, 鈥18, welcomed their baby boy, Shepherd John Russell, on November 8th, 2023, weighing 7 lbs, 5 oz and 20 inches long. He is their third son (the older
two are Judah and Philip).
In October 2022, Sabrina Clayvon, 鈥18, found out her husband was diagnosed with ALS. She says, 鈥淎t first, you cry, you blame, you ask God why, and so many more emotional feelings flare up. Nevertheless, I have a strong faith.鈥 When she attended 91猫先生, they found out they were pregnant with their fourth child. It was a shock, and she can still remember her professor stopping class to pray for her. 鈥淚 will be forever grateful to 91猫先生 for standing firm with the students through prayer. Prayer worked then, and that same prayer is working today.鈥
Dario Garcia, 鈥18, got into a top 10 full-time MBA Program as a Consortium and Management Leadership
for Tomorrow Professional Development Fellow. He will be attending University of Michigan's
Ross School of Business in the fall.
Anisa (Abbott) Simons, 鈥18, and her husband, Sean Simons, 鈥19, have their Little Lancer, Ben! 鈥淗e is a smiley boy,鈥 she says, 鈥渁nd our greatest blessing!鈥
Nicholle (Baron) Gibson, 鈥19, and her husband, Nathaniel Gibson, 鈥20, had a baby boy on May 24, 2024.
Jordan Flye, 鈥21, and his wife, Emily Flye, 鈥23, welcomed their first baby, little Rowyn Flye, on May 23, 2024.
Kim (Dutton) Francis, 鈥21, graduated with her BSN and moved to the Dallas, Texas area to work in Trauma ER. She then transitioned into Labor and Delivery. On May 5, 2024, Kim married Dylan Francis.
Butch Maier, 鈥21, has been named a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Media and Communication
at Northern Kentucky University. He will teach mass communication, news writing, reporting,
and sports media courses. Maier, also a screenwriter, movie producer, and director,
has completed three feature films this year. The family comedy, 鈥淢other of a Christmas,鈥
was picked up for distribution by Maverick Entertainment and will be on streaming
platforms in November. It is a sequel to Maier鈥檚 2019 movie, 鈥淢other of a Day,鈥 which
is streaming on Peacock and Tubi.
A couple months after graduating from Cal Baptist, Aumia O鈥橠ell, 鈥21, was selected to commission into the United States Army as an officer. In the past
several months, she received her license as a clinical social worker and started her
new job as a Behavioral Health officer at Fort Carson, Colorado. This year alone,
she has received two army achievement medals and an army commendation medal. 鈥淚 couldn't
have done it without my experience at Cal Baptist,鈥 she says.
On May 18, 2024, Garrett Graff, 鈥22, and Alyssa (Humphreys) Graff, 鈥23, got married after meeting as Community Life Interns at 91猫先生.
Morgan (Montana) Hutton, 鈥22, and her husband, Gary, welcomed their second daughter, Lottie Grace Hutton, on June
6, 2024.
Angelica Wynter (Stewart) Jackson, 鈥22, and her husband, Jonathon, were married on June 7, 2024. A little bit over a week later, on Father's Day, June 16, they also
welcomed their first child (Anisah Jackson). They are overjoyed with their new bundle
of joy as well as celebrating a job promotion for Angelica back in April. Overall,
life is wonderful!
Abby (Risma) Jensen, 鈥22, and her husband, Micah Jensen, 鈥23, met at 91猫先生 and got married in March of this year! They now live in Colorado.
Colin Mueller, 鈥22, was recently hired by RUSD as an elementary music teacher. 鈥淚 grew up in the district,鈥
he says, 鈥渁nd am very excited and honored to be working there.鈥
Stelle (Andrade) Pacifico, 鈥22, and her husband, Shaun, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Lucas.
Dr. Brenda L. Threatt, 鈥22, a military chaplain, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel with the California State
Guard, Army Division in July 2024. She is the first African American female chaplain
to reach this rank.
Camille Rose Grochowski, 鈥23, just got a new job at State Fund.
Silvia Bolanos, 鈥24, graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from UCI. After obtaining her
MSN, she became the critical care educator at Corona Regional and continued to support
staff and patients during the arduous time of the pandemic. Eventually, she was promoted
to Director of Education of the entire facility and now oversees the Intensive Care
Unit. For the last eight years, she has been an adjunct faculty for the 91猫先生 College
of Nursing. She says, 鈥91猫先生 changed my life when I obtained my BSN, and continues to
do so as I continue to be part of the 91猫先生 family as an adjunct.鈥
Kalynn (Lemmon-Boothroyd) Boothroyd-Garcia, 鈥24, and her husband, Edwin Garcia, 鈥21, have welcomed three beautiful children since attending 91猫先生. Edwin has started a wedding photography business, Wealthy Ethics, and Kalynn has begun her Masters/ Credential program within her school district as a resident teacher. Their first child, Lilah, was there from the very start of their 91猫先生 journey and it has been a joy watching her aspire to one day become a Lancer herself.
Erin Braun, 鈥24, just got into her master鈥檚 program at 91猫先生 and she starts this fall.
Mandy Elizabeth (Evans) McCarroll, 鈥24, and her husband, Larsen, just got married on June 22, and are now living at Laughlin
Air Force Base, where Larsen is training to become an Air Force pilot.
Two days after graduation, Sabrina Elaine Rodgers, 鈥24, did a final interview and was offered employment with Riverside County. She started
as an Environmental Health Specialist at the end of May.
Lindsay (Monroe) Sheffer, 鈥24, and Silas Sheffer, 鈥24, were married in Lindsay鈥檚 hometown church on June 1, 2024, surrounded by family
and friends. They both graduated in April with engineering degrees and have begun
work in the energy and aerospace industries. They have found a church in their new
community and are thankful for the community of 91猫先生, since that is where their relationship
with Christ and each other flourished.
June 2024
Mike Procter, 鈥74, ran into Nathan and MaKenna Ayers, 鈥23, while the couple was celebrating their second anniversary. They worshipped together
at the Kino'ole Baptist Church in Hilo, HI where Mike has been serving as Transitional
Pastor.
James E. Florence, 鈥74, was recently appointed Dean of Public Health at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy.
James also began a new interprofessional doctorate in public health leadership in
fall 2024.
Jamie Elam, 鈥83, and Gail (Gilliam) Elam, 鈥81, were married in 1981 at Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. They served a church as minister of music and youth in Missouri, then as minister of music and youth in Omaha Nebraska. Their son Andrew was born January 1983 and is now 41 living in Rantoul Illinois. Gail taught 2nd grade at a private school in Rialto and Jamie taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th/6th bilingual combination classes in the Fontana School District. In 1995, they moved to Texas where Gail taught 3rd grade and Jamie taught Kindergarten, and Music for Kindergarten through 6th grade. In 2000, they moved back to California where Gail taught 3rd grade in a private school and Jamie taught computer science for 12 years. Jamie earned his master鈥檚 in computer science in 2005 and his doctorate in education in 2007. After retirement, they moved to a small town called Roberts in Illinois where they bought a Victorian home on an acre which Jamie restored single handedly. Jamie has his very own music hall with a Rodgers Classical organ and a Theatre organ and plays for various churches. Gail does crafts, cooking, and baking and cares for their two Yorkshire puppies.
Carolyn (Bennett) Cummings, 鈥05, has returned to 91猫先生 as a student in the Ph.D. in Leadership Studies program. She presented at the American Association of Suicidology Conference May 2024 in Las Vegas. The presentation was titled, "The Next Act of Love: Effective Organizational Postvention Supports for Mental Health Professionals."
After Carissa Potter, 鈥07, graduated from 91猫先生, she launched a focused on mobilizing children to know God's heart
for the nations. A few years later, she was recruited by another organization, called
Via, to design and launch a department focused on mobilizing entire families. In September,
she celebrated 10 years since the launch of Via Families. Since then, they have trained
and resourced over 20,000 parents in 99 countries and developed several resources
that have been translated into multiple languages. The last 17 years of global ministry
has all been the fruit of what she learned and what God birthed in her during her
time at 91猫先生.

Aubrey (Stelzner) Redinger, 鈥11, M.S. 鈥14, obtained her certification in Perinatal Mental Health in June 2024 through Postpartum
Support International.
Logan Altman, 鈥14, has been promoted to Chief Impact Officer at Doing Good Works. He was ASI's (Advertising
Specialty Institute) 2020 Bess Cohn Humanitarian of the Year for outstanding demonstration
of social & environmental impact. He assisted in procuring over 20 million medical-grade
face masks for healthcare workers across the US in 2020 and 2021. He married his wife,
Kaitlin, in 2016 and they have two children, Ella (four) and Liam (two).
Austin Mercadante, 鈥14, and his wife Marissa welcomed a baby boy, born April 17. His name is Silas Timothy
Mercadante, he鈥檚 a little 91猫先生 engineer in the making!
Over a year ago, Sabrina Clayvon, 鈥14, published her first book entitled: Broken Truth (available on Amazon). Attending 91猫先生 helped her reach her potential as a student
and obtain three degrees. As a transferring student to the university, she learned
who she was and what she could accomplish. As a graduate student, the guidance of
Dr. Susan Studer empowered her to challenge herself. It was a blessing to attend such
a wonderful school, and she would not trade the experience.
Bradford Gerl, 鈥16, has been married to his wife, Emily, for the last two years and they have a one-year-old
baby boy! He is the biggest blessing of their life!
Jennifer (Morgan) Lozano, 鈥18, launched Playing Our Part Speech Therapy, P.C. in 2022, where she specializes in
speech sound disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), early language
development, and family coaching. The private practice is located in Yucaipa, CA.
What began with home visits has now grown into a dedicated office space, allowing
her to better serve her clients. She鈥檚 excited to expand their services to include
AAC evaluations and parent/staff coaching for school districts. She is deeply grateful
for the education and opportunities she received at 91猫先生 during her master's program,
which has inspired her to live her purpose beyond her wildest dreams.
Kimberly Nellie Ann Fong, 鈥20, was accepted into Claremont Graduate University鈥檚 DrPH program for fall 2024.
Samantha (Emerick) Romero, 鈥21, and David Romero, 鈥21, have been friends since the seventh grade. They had remained close through high school
but went their separate ways for college. David was away at college in West Virginia,
while Samantha was at 91猫先生. Towards the end of Samantha鈥檚 junior year, she was walking
into the women鈥檚 restroom in the business building when David came out of the men鈥檚
room, knocking her down! She realized he had transferred to 91猫先生. Running into each
other sparked their friendship once again. Fast forward to August 18, 2023, they officially
tied the knot and knew that it was God鈥檚 perfect timing all along.
May 2024
Susan (Perricone) Barackman, 鈥75, retired in 2013 after 27 years of teaching in the public school system in Texas and
started Susan's Saddle Stands (the second-best place to set your saddle!) She鈥檚 celebrating
10 years of designing and selling custom saddle stands for equestrians of all disciplines.
She continues to create paintings and other art.
Dr. Alycia Benson, 鈥03, is an adjunct professor for the 91猫先生 School of Education. Her son, Robert Benson got
married on April 14, 2024.
Zina (Anderson) Runyan, 鈥05, and her husband Travis are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary on May 29.
Mikayla (Lammons) Long, 鈥14, and her husband, Allen, welcomed Cameron Anthony Long, who was born on March 16,
2024. He was 8 lbs., 19.5 in. He joins big brother, Jaylen (2.5 years old).
Brittany (Peterson) Myregard, 鈥15, and her husband, Adam, got married in November 2021 and welcomed their first daughter
in March 2023.
Ashlee von Pertz, 鈥19, and her fianc茅 are getting married on August 2, 2024, in Temecula California.
Eric Gonzales, 鈥22, and his wife, Eilene Gonzales, 鈥22, welcomed their baby boy, Elias Benjamin, on December 1, 2023.
Vasile T. Giulea, 鈥23, and his wife, Brenda, recently welcomed a third boy into their family. The 6 lbs.,
10 oz. baby boy couldn't wait to see the world and arrived earlier than expected,
he was delivered at home. It was a very scary situation, however, delivering his baby
boy before the EMT's arrival was an experience that Vasile cannot explain. He prayed
and then everything was clear moving forward. It was as if he knew what to do, and
he thanks God for guiding him through that process. The feeling of calmness that came
over him at that time is hard to explain.
Maria (Medrano) LaZor, 鈥23, says that for the first time since teaching Special Education at King Middle School her students were able to participate in "Sunshine Days" held at the National Orange Show. She has tried several times but was not able to secure busing due to overbooking or unforeseen circumstances, but her principal was able to secure the funding this year. This activity is a unique experience for special education students (K-12), as it鈥檚 closed to the public and free. They were able to partake in many rides and socialize with fellow students in a safe environment that fosters community engagement. Her students also got to pet alligators, watch pig races, see acrobatics, watch sea lion shows and enjoy various treats. This experience was a delight for her students, and the memories will stay with them for a lifetime.
Terry Valadez, 鈥23, was promoted from User Support Technician to IT Project Manager at Kern County Superintendent of Schools.
April 2024
Darrell Adcock, Sr., 鈥62, passed away on January 31, 2024. His last place of service was as Pastor at Red Rock Baptist Church (Las Vegas, NV). Darrell served in many capacities including with the California Southern Baptist Convention.
Vaughn Brewster, 鈥66, passed away on March 10, 2024. His wife, Grace Brewster 鈥66, will remain at their home in Irvine, CA.
Dr. Henry Peterson, 鈥66, passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 84. Henry was meant to graduate CBC earlier, but served in the military causing him to delay graduation. He went on to serve as a pastor in the Carlsbad area for many years. His wife, Judy (Heap) Peterson is living in Carlsbad.
Neta Young, 鈥69, shares that Dr. LeVern Young passed away on March 22, 2024 in Fresno, CA at the age of 98. Dr. Young was a professor of Life Science from 1953, when California Baptist (at that time) College was started in El Monte, until his retirement in 1983. He served as Chairman of the Life Science Department and of the Natural Science Division, and was named Professor Emeritus in 1994.
Callie (Logan) Jones, 鈥99, and her husband Paul Jones, 鈥99, will celebrate 25 years of marriage in August, 2024. Callie has recently been hired
for the 2024-25 school year as an elementary school assistant principal for the North
Thurston School District in Washington State. She completed her Master of Education
in Educational Leadership with a Principal Certification in June 2023. Paul has been
the lead pastor at Reality Church in Olympia, WA for 16 years. Paul and Callie have
three children: Kayla, Kelsi, and Logan.
Doris (Parker) Chamberlain, 鈥04, is, once again at 77, teaching in Texas. There is a shortage of Special Education teachers all over the US. She was given the opportunity to teach once again and support students at an elementary school level. 鈥淲hat a joy once again to see this population of students become successful in school and life.鈥 She says, 鈥淕od can even use us at our 鈥榦ld鈥 age. All things are possible with God if we just listen and act on what blessings he has for us.鈥 She began her college experience at the age of 50. Graduating in 2000 with a BA, teaching certificate and a Master's in SPED in 2004. 鈥淚 grew up, went to school with no support of SPED in the 50's-60's even though I am still ADHD, Dyslexic and Dysgraphia (diagnosed at 55). Without my 91猫先生 degrees, teacher certification and computers, I would have missed the most important part of my life. Because I was called to teach and chose to listen, I have been blessed to be able to teach three years (middle school) in California, 13 years high school in Arizona, and retired at 74.鈥
Joshua Atkinson, 鈥12, and his wife Katie (Stein) Atkinson, 鈥13, just shared their 10 Year Anniversary on April 6, 2024. They first met in the University
Choir and Orchestra under direction of Dr. Gary Bonner. 鈥淜atie actually asked me out
on our first date (a group date with choir friends) during TWIRP Fall 2011,鈥 Joshua
says, 鈥渨ithout having more than maybe one or two conversations together. We had so
many common interests, and truly enjoyed our time together, that we started exclusively
dating not long after. God answered our dreams and prayers by sending us exactly the
person we needed. The rest was history!鈥 They now have a small family with two beautiful
girls, Harper and Holland. 鈥淕od blesses us every day with amazing families and friends
that support us through every part of our lives.鈥 He says, 鈥淲e know that we never
would have made it this far without 91猫先生 and its amazing influence in our lives.鈥
Jana (Moore) Cunningham, 鈥12, and her husband Zachary, celebrate the birth of their first child, a son, William,
on April 3, 2024 (8 lbs, 7oz).
Mark Sigman II, 鈥19, is celebrating his fifth anniversary at Riverside University Heath System. He is his team's lead and has successfully led two county-wide projects.
Kasaan Hammon, 鈥20, is teaching middle school English full-time and also writing and releasing music
as a Christian artist under the name Rigsi. Her latest single, "Daughter," based on
Mark 5:34, just came out this March. It was based on the testimony of a friend, and
her hope is that it will encourage and inspire women from all walks of life.
Payton (Roth) Masterson, 鈥20, got married on October 26, 2023. She also graduated with her master鈥檚 degree in
Sport Business from Temple University.
Nichole Y. Stinson, 鈥21, recently graduated from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) with an MFA in creative
writing (June 2023) and just started Stockton University's (Galloway, NJ) Master's
in Holocaust and Genocide Studies program (January 2024).
Karla Alvarez, 鈥22, was promoted from primary therapist at a residential home to the Program Director
for their Mental Health Outpatient Program.
Stephen Olufemi Bankole-Wright, 鈥22, recently released a project called "YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS HERE." It has amassed about
50k streams and has been promoted on Gospel Music Buzz and Gospel Grind Radio. It
features his hit single, "Brand New," which was released right around the time that
he received an award from the State Assembly for his performance in the "Young Gifted
and Black" event put on during Black History Month. The project is available on all
platforms as well as CD format.
Frank Richard Chacon, 鈥23, is enjoying more time with his one-year-old daughter. He has been promoted to a Campus Operations Lead at Sandals Church Banning and looks forward to using his degree to lead with the leaders of the future. At Inland Leaders Charter School, he developed a Leadership Conference for Middle Schoolers that aims to develop their leadership style and grow as a leader. The event was so successful that 97 percent of their 300 students participated in the conference. God is so good!
Lilandra Lipari, 鈥23, recently got hired at her dream hospital in her dream job. 鈥淚 truly have 91猫先生 to
thank!鈥 she says, 鈥淚 loved my time here! The best part was being able to work a full-time
job and be a full-time student thanks to the online programs they offer.鈥
March 2024
Duane Chism, 鈥65 and his wife, May (Campbell), 鈥64, have been married almost 60 years. They will celebrate their anniversary in December
2024. Duane 鈥淏utch鈥 retired from the United States Airforce in 1991 after 25 years
at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He retired again in 2017 after 15 years as a credentialed
Federal Investigator conducting National-level background security investigations
for 3-letter agencies in Washington. May retired from Defense Language Institute as
an English Instructor after 15 years in 2003. She served overseas in both Taiwan and
Slovenia, as well as at the home campus, Lackland AFB. The couple has three children,
twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pictured are 10 of their 12 grandchildren.
James Forkum, PhD, 鈥69 and his wife, Sharon (Rehling), 鈥64, will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary in August 2024. Jim is also celebrating his 54th year in the general field of education, coaching, and athletics administration while Sherry celebrates her 51st year as an educator from elementary school through graduate school.
Steve Quinnelly, 鈥69, passed away in October 2023. After graduating from CBC, Steve was called as a youth minister. He also served as school teacher and principal in both private and public schools for over 22 years. He was then called to pastor Mannford Christian Fellowship church in 1993, where he served for the past 30 years until his death in October 2023. He loved God, his family, and baseball. His wife, Connie, remarks, 鈥淚 am most grateful for our preparation years at CBC, for the many lasting friendships from there, and for the blessing of the past 55 years of serving our Savior together.

Asusena (Herrera) Soren, 鈥12, was recently promoted to Deputy City Manager with the City of San Bernardino.
Andreana (Banuelos) Battaglia, 鈥13/鈥15, and her husband, Joseph Battaglia welcomed a son, Jaxson John Battaglia born in
2023. Jaxson joins sister, Brooke Sophia (3yrs).
Consuelo Lopez, 鈥16, just completed her first year as Riverside County Department of Public Social Services'
Public Information Officer. She leads the department's award-wining communication
team. Her team recently won their first Public Relations Society of America Inland
Empire Chapter Polaris Award and a National Association of Counties Achievement Award.
Shannon Richardson, 鈥18, recently accepted the position of Director of Learning and Development at the California University of Science and Medicine. She has been with the organization for the past five years.
Beau Wright 鈥19, works as an Inventory Lead at GEODIS Logistics. Because of the help of professor Lilly Szeto, Beau was able to develop his Chinese language skills and apply them into real life job opportunities and translate Chinese for Apple executive working with high tech machinery.

February 2024
Dewight 鈥淚ke鈥 Riddle, 鈥77, retired after many years of pastoral work due to health issue stemming from working on fighter jets while serving in the Air Force many years prior to becoming a Christian. Ike previously pastored at First Baptist of Norco. He then felt led to plant a new church, Olive Branch Community Church, in Corona in 1988. During his seventeen years at Olive Branch, he was blessed to go on many mission trips, including twice to Uganda, once each to the Philippines, Macao, China, Mexico and South America. He also went to Israel three times, two of which he led tours there. Ike now lives in Texas with his wife and many of his family also reside there.
Tom Hixson, 鈥78, recently retired from Gateway Seminary. He spent 40+ years (20 years in higher education
and 21 years as President of the Northwest Baptist Foundation) working for Southern
Baptists in the field of business and finance. He and his wife, Becky (Tillman) Hixson, 鈥77, have relocated to Prescott, Arizona.

Sandra (Bennett) Hughes, 鈥05, and her husband, Anthony, welcomed their fifth baby, Isabella Michelle Hughes. Baby

Bryant Sinkler, 鈥79, traveled from the East Coast to enjoy A 91猫先生 Christmas concert. He then traveled to
Beverly Hills for the city鈥檚 Centennial Celebration. As a former resident, Bryant
was happy to be able to be there to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Mark Wilson, 鈥84, graduated in December 2023 with a Ph.D. in Applied Theology 鈥 emphasis in Ecclesiology
鈥 from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Mark has been privileged
to serve as Lead Pastor of Sierra Baptist Church of Visalia, CA, for 30 years and
is also a NAMB endorsed healthcare chaplain with Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia.
Mark and his wife Valerie (Overstreet, 鈥86) have been married for 38 years and have four adult children (all 91猫先生 alums) and five
grandchildren (future Lancers).
Keith Bacon, 鈥17, was recently named Vice President of Administrative Services for San Bernardino Valley College. Prior to this, Keith spent three years working as an executive in the K-12 public school system.
Analy (Garcia) Jarboe, 鈥18, was recently promoted to Senior Planning Specialist at Southern California Edison.
Anthony Lozano, 鈥17, is the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Cal State East Bay in Hayward,
California.
Joey Aszterbaum, 鈥22, and his wife, Keisha Campbell, have recently launched their real estate business,
First Team Real Estate. They are also a part of an exciting new church plant in Oceanside
called St. Brigid's. After a long hiatus from performing live music in front of strangers,
Joey has begun playing local open mic nights in Oceanside.
Colin Mueller, 鈥22, is an elementary band teacher for Rancho Christian School. The number of students
in band has doubled since he first started working at the school, and he was able
to start a brand new strings class this year. Colin is so thankful for this amazing
opportunity God has given to him.
Gabriela Estrada Toro, 鈥23, and her husband, David, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Costa Rica in December 2023. She works as an administrative
assistant for Moreno Valley College. Gabriela notes that when she was obtaining her
bachelors, 鈥淕oing back to school with a fulltime job, two children, and a household
to run is not easy, but 91猫先生 was there for me and made it possible to juggle it all.鈥
She was recently accepted to the Organizational Leadership Master's program at 91猫先生.
